Kerry Cannan has finally come to the end of a long journey as she releases her debut recording of mostly original songs. The gifted vocalist is known as a captivating live performer, backed by a tight ensemble of seasoned veterans. Using a mix of rock, blues and ballads, she has been compared to the likes of Stevie Nicks, Natalie Merchant and LeAnn Rimes.
Formed back in 1984 by guitarists Jim Smith and Dan Monaghan, Still Kickin’ went on to include Tom Sylvester on bass and Don Howcroft on drums. The band performed on Thursday nights at The Warehouse for over two years in their hey-day; and made annual appearances at the Park Avenue Festival, the Corn Hill Festival and in Genesee Valley Park. Still Kickin’ plays a mix of their own original music along with some Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Dire Straights and others – especially Bob Dylan. Dan’s interpretations of Dylan songs are a must see.
Rochester-based guitarist/vocalist Dawn Thomson has played and toured extensively throughout North America and Europe. She has performed with such artists as Renee Rosnes, Milt Jackson, Don Thompson, Terrel Stafford, Mulgrew Miller, Peter Bernstein, The Woody Herman Orchestra, Harry Allen, James Williams and Dave Liebman.
On Saturday, October 24, Lovin’ Cup (www.lovincup.com) will host a double-dose of brass funk rock and reggae by The Po’ Boys Brass Band and Mosaic Foundation. The “Funky Reggae Party” will kick off at 9 p.m.
Jen Graney (guitar and vocals) and her brother John (drums) are Hotel Reverie. They site influences that include Velvet Underground, Lydia Lunch, Howlin’ Wolf, Hank Williams, Sonic Youth, Loretta Lynn, and the Cramps; but their sound is all their own.

Rochester’s instrumental rock group, The Isotopes are back performing this month, after taking a bit of a break earlier this year. The band has been entertaining us for the better part of a decade now, using go-go dancers, plenty of comedy and an explosive stage show to earn a loyal following.

Fronted by identical twin female singers, Rhian and Cara Morgan; and backed by Mike Iten on guitar/vocals/harmonica, Mike Putorti on bass and Steve Molins on drums. The group performs covers by top female artists including Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Gretchen Wilson and Miranda Lambert; as well as popular male stars like Brooks and Dunn, Lynyrd Skynyrd and Kenny Chesney. Their shows provide a high energy atmosphere that gets the crowd up and dancing.
Mitty & The Followers are known for their high energy shows and danceable music that keeps listeners on their feet and asking for more. Vocalist Eric “Mitty “ Moore, formerly with the Legendary Dukes, plays left hand upside down bass; Steve Lyons is a hard-edged rockin’ blues player in the tradition of Stevie Ray Vaughan; drummer Paul Mastrioni has more than twenty years experience in a variety of bands including Redline Zydeco; and organ master Sammy “G” Gruttadauria, also plays with the Beale Street Blues Band and Reporter.
